Here it is, one of the ultimate challenges for the Summer of 2021. Beat the Heat with a 5K a Day Challenge for the Month of August. Plus, work your upper body with a 31 push-up and 3:10 planks a day challenge. (The push-up and plank portion is totally optional)
The Vac & Dash 31 5K’s is a great challenge for family and friends to participate in to get Fresh Air – Sunshine and Exercise. This is also a fantastic challenge for cross country runners to use to get in shape for the upcoming cross country season.
Do the following each and every day in August:
1) Run, Walk or Run/Walk at least a 5K a day each and every day in August. (You can split it up as long as you cover 3.1-miles a day on foot. Treadmills are acceptable.
2) Optional – Do at least 31 Push-ups & 3:10 Planks Each and Every Day in August.
3) Optional – Do 3 minutes and 10 seconds of planks each and every day in August.
Note that you do not have to do it all at once. You can run a mile in the morning and walk 2.1-miles in the evening. Same with push-ups and planks.
Log your miles on runsignup.com so you can see how you are doing compared to others.
I have been testing out the challenge for the last two weeks and learned that for myself, I switch around the workouts.
Example: One day I may run 3.1-miles or so and in the evening do my push-ups and planks. When I do my push-ups and planks I sometimes break that up into 10 push-ups 1:00 plank 10 push-ups 1:00 plank 11-push-ups and finish the workout with a 1:10 plank.

Those that complete the challenge will have their name in a drawing for a free pair of shoes and other prizes. Plus, finishers get an awesome Finishers Medallion that you can hang on a wall with pride.
